AGPROfessionals Supports Brighton’s Veterans Park Trail Expansion
The City of Brighton, Colorado, enlisted AGPROfessionals to complete the engineering and construction plans for the final section of the redesigned Veterans Park Trail. This 400-foot trail extension along Brighton Street will create a safer, more accessible route for pedestrians and cyclists traveling from the downtown roundabout to Veterans Park, ultimately linking the city to the Colorado Front Range Trail.
Connecting to the Colorado Front Range Trail
The Colorado Front Range Trail is an ambitious 870-mile regional pathway stretching from New Mexico to Wyoming, with more than 300 miles already complete. Its route traces historic footpaths once used by Native American tribes, Spanish explorers, and 19th-century U.S. expeditions. According to History Colorado, early mountain men knew this historic route as the Trappers Trail, a fitting connection for Brighton’s newest trail link that blends history, recreation, and community connectivity.
AGPROfessionals’ Engineering Expertise
AGPROfessionals provided comprehensive surveying, design, and engineering services for the Veterans Park Trail expansion, coordinating closely with both the City of Brighton and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
Surveying: Our team surveyed the trail connection site to document existing improvements, utilities, and topography data, which are used to develop precise drawings for the engineered plan set.
Utility Locates and Potholing: We performed utility locates and potholing to identify the exact placement of underground utilities, including a fiber line near the intersection of W. Bridge Street and Miller Avenue.
Engineered Construction Plan Set: AGPROfessionals developed the full construction plan package required by the City of Brighton Planning Department. Deliverables included a Vicinity Map, Existing Conditions, Overall Site Plan, Utility Plan, Road and Trail Improvements Plan, Drainage and Erosion Control Plan, and Preliminary Grading Plan.
Drainage Report: Our engineers produced a detailed Drainage Report for the proposed improvements, covering facility drainage, run-on and run-off calculations, hydraulic modeling, and stormwater design, key components of the Site Plan Review (SPR) application.
Coordination with CDOT and the City of Brighton: Throughout the design and approval process, our team worked closely with both agencies to address comments, refine plans, and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
Finally, AGPROfessionals engineers remained available for construction-phase support. Construction observation, including inspections, reports, and review of contractor materials such as spec sheets and concrete strength tests, is one of the many ways AGPROfessionals ensures successful project outcomes.
Building a Stronger Community
AGPROfessionals is proud to have contributed to this important community improvement project for the City of Brighton. The Veterans Park Trail expansion not only enhances safety and accessibility but also strengthens Brighton’s connection to the Front Range Trail, inviting residents and visitors alike to explore the region’s scenic and historic landscapes.
